Is Project Bear an official non-profit organization?

YES! We are a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, registered in the USA.
Tax ID: 452318910

Does Project BEAR send out confirmations when a request is received?

Yes! We send out confirmations for all form submissions. If you did not get one, check your spam folder. If you believe you entered a typo in the email address, you can update it below on the Change of Address form. *A correct email address is REQUIRED to get your bear.* You will get an email with the link to our Confirm Address Form when we are ready to ship your bear. This form is REQUIRED to receive your bear. If we do not have your correct email address, we won't be able to email you the required form and you won't receive your bear!

If I donated to help cover the cost of my bear, do I need to fill out any other form besides the PayPal information?

No, the PayPal information is all we need, but be sure to double check the address as that is where we will send the bear. If the address information is incorrect, fill out the form located below or email us ASAP! You may experience a delay in receiving your bear.

If you donated to send a bear to someone else, we will send the bear to the address you entered IN THE FORM. No need to email us unless you forgot to enter the Recipient's name and/or address.

Do I need to have a PayPal account to donate or 'buy' a bear?

No, you have various payment options to choose from once you click the PayPal button.

What does it mean that "paid" bears are given priority status?

If you donated to help cover the cost of your bear, you receive priority status - that means we ship your bear within 1-2 weeks of receiving your order. This includes: Bear w/a Buddy, Bear w/a Bracelet, Bear for Someone Else, International Bears, 2 Bears, etc. Paid bears are also guaranteed to get a tracking number and tracking email.

How long will it take to get my free bear?

You can expect to wait 1-2 months to get your bear, but the wait may be longer. As of July 1st, 2023 we will only be sending 50 free bears out each month on a rolling, first come, first served basis.

How long before I need my box of bears (for a Hospital/Organization) should I request one?

As soon as possible. Hospitals are still our priority. We ask you to give us at least one full month, but we typically ship out boxes within 2-3 weeks of receiving the request. Even if you have requested a box previously, please still use the request form.

Can I request a personalized bear or a bear of a specific color?

No. Project BEAR only offers a 9" brown bear. Each bereavement bear comes with a tag on which you can write your baby's name. We now offer bears with crocheted hats for $15, which can be pink, blue or neutral. Or, you can order a personalized bracelet with your bear.

I accidentally put the wrong shipping address on my request form/PayPal. What should I do?

If you realize your address is old/incorrect or incomplete in PayPal, fill out the form below ASAP. Be sure to fill out the form completely so we can easily find your request. If we have already shipped a bear to the wrong address, we will require a $4 fee for the extra shipping costs. If you requested a free bear, we will email you before we ship your bear with a separate, required form to confirm your address, so there is no need to fill out this form.
You should also use the form below if you need to update your email.

I do not live in the United States. Can I still request a bear?

We send bears all over the world; however, shipping outside of the United States is expensive, and we require at least an $18(USD) shipping/customs fee. Requests for free bears outside the United States will not be honored.

Please be aware that international shipping may take longer than a month. International shipping has been inconsistent due to COVID -19. We now use Global Post instead of USPS to ship international orders.

I want to send a bear to someone else. How do I do that?

We recommend giving them our info so they can request a bear themselves. If you would still like to have a bear sent to them, click here. Be sure the address is correct. We require at least a $4 donation to ship a bear to someone else - this helps pay for the shipping costs.

When you request a bear for someone else, we send them a little card letting them know the bear was requested for them by someone who loves them. If they request information on who sent them the bear, we will let them know. The bear is shipped in a special envelop and is marked as "A Gift for You from Project BEAR" and still comes with a sympathy card.
